EPIC River Project

sculpture installations

The first to be collected was the Water Bench  29th April
My neighbour helped us load using his tractor and my crane straps.  It weighs over 350kg

We constructed a bed of wood blocks to support the bench structure while in the trailer.
Tight straps held it in place

A giant machine was on site to do other ground work, and picked up the bench like a toy.

We lined the bench up to look at the village church and Downs in the distance

We checked by looking through the little holes in the back

The Feature wood carvings were collected and set up on site 4th May
Again my neighbour Andrew helped load the sculptures onto the trailer from my garden in Cowfold

The two biggest carvings weigh just under
300kg each.  All three carvings fitted onto the trailer in one go.

This is so much easier than me turning and moving the carvings with my engine hoist in the garden

  A spirit level can help

Post hole concrete holds each in place

It looks sunny but it was actually very windy and I could hardly stand up in this spot.

Kieran who is guiding the River Life Force sculpture is fortunately more stable

The final sculpture is Teaching the Sompting Fishermen, which has arrived in the picnic area at this point.
